Someone who is your friend only when you are successful and prosperous but leave you in the time of need

Etymology:

  • It feels good when the weather is pleasant and fair with lovely breeze and blue sky but it seems bad when it turns unpleasant. The similar idea can be applied to friendship and real situations in life. A fair weather implies only good time friend in contrast to foul or unpleasant weather suggesting a bad time friend.   A true friend is identified in the times of difficulty, since we know, “a friend in need is a friend indeed”.
