You forget people that are no longer visible, if you don’t see someone for a while, you tend to forget

Etymology:

  • This proverb was first used by an ancient Greek poet in his famous book “The Odyssey” in around 850 B.C. A similar saying gained popularity in England in the 13th century. The expression is relatively simple to explain that when someone or something is not in your view for some time, you will not get thoughts of it after some time. Another expression with the exact opposite meanings is “makes the heart grow fonder.”
