Etymology:
- Charles Dickson and several other famous writers used this expression in their writing. As it is certain that nobody can eat his/her hat, therefore this expression is used to refer a person who is extremely confident about something. If it doesn’t happen, that person would be ready to do something unpleasant in front of other people i.e. ‘eat his hat’. Confident person would be sure about something so he has no fear of having the claim of eating his hat.
