Etymology:
- The term is used in reference to rabies, a mad condition with dogs in which saliva in the form of foam begins to form around the mouth of a dog and he acts in an odd or crazy manner. People in 15th century began to use this term “foaming at the mouth” for crazy people who got furious and became uncontrollable more like mad dogs. In extreme anger they appear as mad.
