Etymology:
- This is a 20th century expression which means exactly what it says. Get up and go means to wake up and start doing something rather than to sit quite or still and doing nothing. This expression might have begun as a verb expression (I wish she would get up and go) and later changed and took the form of a noun (She needs more get up and go).
