Etymology:
- It is an idiom, which originated from the Germans. It tells us, that family is more important ant valuable than any friendship ties. Some people present the idea that blood does not evaporate and leaves behind a few stains. Water can evaporate easily and there are no stains left behind. The reason is blood is much thicker and holds its presence but water can be replaced very easily.
