Cry Over Spilled Milk

Etymology:

• This expression was used in the 16th century for the first time. It became popular in the mid of 18th century, when it was used by a Canadian humorist. If milk spill out from the container, you cannot put it back. Hence, no need to cry over that. It has been found that it was a real event, when a lady was bringing milk for her children from a long distance and she accidentally dropped the milk. Later, she was found crying over that milk on the road.
