Don't Take Any Wooden Nickels

Etymology:

• This popular American expression was first used in the early 20th century when majority of people migrated from rural areas to the big cities. This idiom means that we should be cautious of city slickers who would sometimes exchange fake coins ("wooden nickels"). Later, wooden nickels became a symbol to describe any kind of fraud or deceitful deals.
