Four Corners of the Earth

Etymology:

• It is an old saying which finds its origin in New Testament of Bible. It was thought by ancient people that the earth was not round rather it was flat consisting of four corners. So to refer to the “four corners of the earth”, they meant farthest places, situated near the edge or corner of rectangular map. Anything lying on the corner refers to a distant place. So the expression referred to farthest places or mush distant places of the earth.
