- This is a slang American phrase of the 20th century. To satisfy ones hunger and thirst in the body there is a hole in the body. Anything you eat is to satisfy your stomach and whatever you drink quench your thirst means it “hits the spot”. It lends you energy and peps up your spirits, you surely feel fresh as it restores your energy.
