Knock on Wood

Etymology:

  • In England, to keep off from bad luck, people used to say “touch wood”. Today the expression “knocking on wood” has become quite popular but its origin is not certain from where it actually came. According to many experts, it might have come from the Druids which are an order of Celtic priests of England and Ireland. Whatever the origin, but the phrase “knocking the wood” is used to refer to avoid any bad luck.
