The idiom originates from England in around 19th with people using the phrase “cup of tea” for anything that seems to them interesting or liked. Tea has become a part of many English people. They often take tea once or twice a day with different flavors available now. Somewhere around 1920s, the expression modified with time to transform into the present one.
