Security Blanket

Etymology:

• It is customary that many young children like to cling to something for instance any favorite stuffed toy, blanket or something. They hold these things because they feel secured, comfortable and confident with them. The phrase originated from famous American cartoonist Charles. M. Schulz who drew popular comic piece “peanuts” in which he introduced a character named Linus who always hold his security blanket along with him thus causing Schulz to use this term. Thus it means to keep something for emotional support.
