Shoot from the Hip

Etymology:

• The phrase originated from the old style of shooting by western gunfighters. It was easier and quicker to shoot from the side of your hip from the revolver, than it took a time to raise your gun and then shoot. For good methods and aims, this was considered a best method. But later the expression meant to do or say something aggressively and recklessly without thinking the consequences of your actions.
