Snake in the Grass

Etymology:

• Everyone is fearful of the creatures called snakes since 37. B. C or even before. It is the most dangerous or lethal animal putting anybody to death in no time. Many poets and writers have used snake in their writings as a sign of danger and deceit. Thus when Roman poet Virgil used snake in the expression to suggest a hidden enemy, which is not open and likes to attack secretly. So today we can use this expression to say someone who is untrustworthy or unfaithful.
