suck it up

To put up with something; to deal with something, such as pain or misfortune, without complaining.

Etymology:

  • "suck it up" became common during World War II when pilots had to literally “suck it up” if they vomited into their oxygen masks. If not, they risked suffocating on the acidic fumes or choking on the vomit in their lungs
