Etymology:
- The origination of this particular expression comes from the Roman Mythology. God Janus was considered to be the one who had to keep the gates of heaven. His two faced allowed him to be a good watchman. This expression is similar to ‘two heads are better than one’. During early 17th, writer referred this particular expression to describe someone who double crosses and was named as “two faced”. Now, this is related to a person who may tell you something but may tell the entire opposite to someone else.
