Kill the Goose that Lays the Golden Eggs

Etymology:

• The phrase clearly suggests to have originated from a famous fable that describes a farmer who had a goose which used to lay golden eggs at one time. Having this bliss at his disposal, he became greedy and in an effort to get all the golden eggs at once, he killed the goose. Off course, no any dead goose lays any egg which this silly farmer realized afterwards. In 15th century, this story gave rise to this phrase “kill the goose that lays golden eggs”.
