Salt of the Earth

Etymology:

  • It is noticing that salt has been for many centuries considered a very useful and valuable thing. Even in ancient Roman time, some of the salary was paid to soldiers in the form of salt. This expression “salt of the earth” is also present in the Bible (Jesus sermon on mount, Matthew 5:13). The phrase is a metaphor that defines the noble and honorable people on earth who are as significant and important as the product salt is useful and valuable in our lives.
