Etymology:
- This is an old saying and there are two possibilities of its origin. In England during the 17th century, many groups such as Scottish Covenanters, the Whig party and the teams at major universities of England had blue colors and anyone who wore blue color was considered to be faithful to them. Similarly, Coventry, England’s blue thread was also regarded highly due to its color in the middle ages and the color didn’t dye. That’s the reason it is related to faithfulness. Similarly, blue and true rhyme and such idioms become more popular.
