Someone who is always eager to spend the money, couldn’t resist from spending the money as soon as you have it

Etymology:

  • It is a natural behavior to throw any light or candle if it seems to burn your pocket. The idiom can be explained by imagining a scene in which money burns your pocket in case you are resistant to buying something with it instantly. The expression is used for people who feel it necessary to empty their pockets even the bought things are wasteful. The idiom has its origins dating back to 16th century as there are always some persons who don’t save anything. A common misconception is from the idiom “having money to burn” that refers to the person with a lot of money that even burning it will not affect it.
